The historic spa town of Cauterets is famous for its skiing,walking,thermal baths and health treatment centres and is much loved by the French as a family-orientated summer and winter holiday centre. The town has many bars,restaurants,casino,cinema,library,shops and mini-supermarkets,pharmacies,doctors and junior school.

Although the town is completely self-sufficient,larger nearby towns are Argelez,Lourdes,Tarbes and Pau,the furthest being an hour's drive. The nearest connecting airports are at Pau, Biarritz and Toulouse. The principle rail-link is at Lourdes, 30 minutes drive away and there is a good bus service plus local taxis.

The house was built in 1979 and has been updated by the present owners in the last four years. Works undertaken include complete conversion of the basement apartment with fully fitted kitchen,etc.the addition of a second bathroom within the main house, an oil fired boiler plus new hot water tank and central heating radiatiors throughout the house and apartment, an 8m x 4m swimming pool heated by newly installed solar panels and sundry other items.

The property has full electricity, including the kitchens and has mains drainage. The sitting room in the main house has a woodburning stove/fire and three sets of french windows which open on to a sheltered, south facing terrace on which there is a large stone barbecue. The whole property is doubleglazed and the roof-space, with extra storage space is fully insulated.

Set below the main house,with habitable space of 49sq mtrs is the apartment. There is a fully fitted kitchen,with Brandt appliances, a small bedroom, sitting room and bathroom with toilet, wash basin and bath incorporating a shower. There are stone tiled floors throughout,full central heating and an internal staircase accessing the main house.

There are steps leading from the drive to the terrace and the main entrance door opens into the very large sitting/dining room, measuring 48sq mtrs. A timber staircase gives access to the mezzanine, at present used as a duble bedroom measuring 13sq mtrs but could be used as and office.

Off the sitting/dining room is the kitchen/breakfast room, with fully fitted cupboards/units and De Dietrich electric hob and oven with dimensions of 17sq mtrs. Adjacent is the new bathroom, with bath incorporating shower, toilet and wash basin.

A corridor from the sitting/dining room leads to a drying room, for storage of skiing clothing and equipment, then a further large bathroom, with bath incorporating shower, toilet, two washbasins, large vanitory unit and bidet. There are then the three principal house bedrooms, two with double beds and one with a pair of single beds. All of those rooms have built in cupboard/wardrobes.

Incorporated in the rear of the house is a self-contained storage room with full electricity. Adjacent to the basement, at the front of the building, is a wood store with full electics, a boiler room with hot water cylinder and an oil storage tank.

External lighting is fitted to the three open sides of the property and there are two external water pipes for gardening,etc. The swimming pool has pump, filter and underwater lighting.
